Are You a Fitness Manifester or Just a Dreamer?

February 21, 2012

What is the difference between a manifester and a dreamer? A manifester is someone who has a dream and takes the appropriate actions to turn that dream into a reality. A dreamer is someone who wishes things in their life could be different but doesn’t have the clarity or ambition to follow through with their actions.
The first step to manifesting what you want in life is to be very clear on what it is you want. One of the biggest obstacles  people encounter when trying to make their life dreams come true, is lack of clarity on what it is they truly want.

What are you fitness goals? Do you have a plan in place to help you achieve those goals? When I did my first Figure competition, I didn’t do a lot of research to find out what it would take to be in that type of competition. My attitude was more like “this sounds like fun and a good challenge. Let’s try it.” I was certainly in for a big surprise when I found out how much commitment, discipline, time, and money it required to get up on that stage. Although I placed in the top 5, I wasn’t really in the “manifesting” space I knew I needed to be in.

When I  prepared for my second competition, I was much more prepared and my mindset was completely different.  I was definitely in “manifesting” mode and knew what it would take to win. This time I went in with a totally different attitude and had the mindset of I was “in it to win it.” I did, in fact, win that competition and my dream became a reality.

I know many people who talk about fitness goals they want to do (i.e. run a marathon, enter a fitness competition, or train for an Iron Man.) Talking about it and doing it are two different things. How can you go from being a Dreamer to becoming a Manifester?

Here are some tips that can help turn those dreams into a reality:
Get Clear. To create the goal you want to achieve, it is important to be very clear on exactly what it is you want (i.e. I want to run that 5k race at the end of April.) Once you are clear on your goal, take some time to get quiet and relaxed, with a pen and paper. Take some deep breaths and close your eyes, now imagine your goal. What does it feel like to achieve this goal? Imagine it in great detail. What do you see? How does it feel to train for this goal? How do you feel when you envision yourself crossing the finish line?  Imagine this goal in as much detail as possible and write everything down. Write down the feelings, images, and/or anything else you can think of in attaining this goal.

Why. Once your goal is written down, take a moment and reflect why this goal is important to you.  Writing down your  “why” is very important. It will allow you to determine if the goal is more “ego” driven or if it’s coming from a more spiritual place. When we gain clarity on why we want to achieve these goals, it gives us more power to create them. When we are clear on what truly inspires us, our intention to create and manifest can be extremely powerful!

Affirmations. Now that you have created your goal and are clear on your intention, create an affirmation to help you achieve the goal (i.e.” I will run the 5K in April with strength, dedication, and ease!”)

Vision Board. A vision board is a great way to help you keep your goals in front of you on a daily basis. Look for pictures of what inspires you toward reaching this goal and paste them on the board or on a wall. It should be kept in a place that you will see every day. Our subconscious mind creates our reality and seeing your goals every day is very powerful.

Meditate.  Daily meditation can also be very helpful in manifesting your dreams. By keeping your connection to spirit strong, you can find the inner guidance to help move you forward with ease and grace!

Remember, being a Manifester takes discipline and dedication. If you want to reach your goals, you will need to eliminate anything  that keeps you from being in alignment with what you want to create! To turn your dreams into a reality, you need to create new habits and beliefs that will take you to the finish line!

My last bit of advice is to believe in yourself. I know you can do it!

How to Exercise Your Body, Stretch Your Mind & Feed Your Soul

It’s not always easy to find balance in our lives.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could exercise our body, stretch our minds, and feed our souls without feeling totally stressed out?

If you believe in the mind, body, soul connection, then you have to understand that if one or more of these aspects is out of balance, it can affect our lives in a negative way. The trick is to incorporate a positive plan than can help to keep our lives running on track.

Although we may strive to keep our lives in sync, sometimes things are thrown at us that create our balance to go off kilter. Perhaps you have a sick child, a demanding project at work, or a goal you’ve set for yourself that’s taking up more time than expected. These can all add to the everyday stress we already have. However, if we can continually make an effort to pull our attention back to being balanced, we can achieve great results!

So, how do we find balance in a world of unexpected chaos?

Here’s a plan that can help you incorporate some positive ingredients to create a balanced lifestyle. Try to add one or two ideas from each list every week to get you back on track:

Stretch Your Mind

Reading

Classes

Learning a new subject

Stimulating conversation

Workshops

Educational Videos

Self help, counseling

Exercise Your Body

Weight Training

Dancing

Stretching

Hiking

Kayaking

Jump Rope

Workout DVD’s

Feed Your Soul

Relationships

Psychic development

Rest

Giving to Others

Meditation

Playing with children/pets

Self reflection

Remember that establishing a balanced life is what helps us create a strong foundation to help us through the ups and downs that life can throw at us!

Do You Challenge Yourself to Grow?

February 9, 2012

How do you feel about challenges in your life? Do you look at challenges as a negative experience or do you look for the positive lessons in them? If you are not being challenged in your daily life or in your fitness routine, you are probably not growing and seeing the results you would like. When you overcome obstacles, you feel more confident and motivated. You also realize that you have the strength and power within you to tackle any difficulty that may present itself to you!

I enjoy keeping myself challenged. When I reach one goal that I’ve set for myself, I start working on a new one. I find that in my fitness routine, I like to try and challenge myself to one new exercise each week. It may be incorporating a new exercise or even increasing the amount of weight or reps I am doing on a particular exercise. At the moment, I’m working on increasing the amount of pull ups I can do. I’m currently at six…….

When you push yourself out of your comfort zone, your body will start benefiting from the results. Keep in mind that your body gets used performing the same exercises over & over again. It’s important to keep your muscles challenged by incorporating new things into your routine so they can continue to grow and get stronger!

Here are a few suggestions to challenge your current level of fitness:

-   Incorporate at least one new exercise into your workout routine each week

-   Increase the amount of weights you lift or reps you do for one exercise

-   Try a different form of cardio

-    Increase the incline and/or time if you are using a cardio machine

-    Don’t have time to get to the gym? Try an at-home workout with DVD’s or improvise doing jumping jacks, pushups, and crunches

-   Are you eating the same things every day? Switch up your diet! Try Quinoa, Pork Tenderloin, Bison or Kale

-  Say a Fitness Affirmation each day before you work out.

Just remember that challenges are what keep life interesting. They allow us to grow and become stronger in our body and mind!
